Key Purpose of the Role: Our Client, one of the leading Indian MNC is looking for an Engineering Manager, To lead and manage the Engineering function, ensuring timely and cost-effective design and development of new products in alignment with customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing feasibility. Key Responsibilities: 1. Drafting & Detailing Ensure accurate fabrication drawing preparation, BOM creation, and revision control (ECR/ECN). Standardize drawing templates, numbering systems, and maintain INFOR BOMs. Oversee the checking and approval process of engineering designs and documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and timely release. 2. Product & Component Engineering Apply expertise in sheet metal design and heavy fabrication (trailers, tankers, containers, defence equipment). 3. Software Proficiency Lead the design of new products using CAD tools such as AutoCAD (2D), CATIA, and SolidWorks (3D Modelling) 4. Standards & Compliance Ensure designs meet ASME / ISO standards and are compliant with material standards (EN, ASTM, IS). Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies using APQP methodology. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry and safety standards. 5. Project Management Manage NPD projects from concept to production, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, and quality. Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives. Facilitate problem-solving and promote innovation across engineering teams. 6. Communication & Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and procurement. Present design concepts and project updates to stakeholders with strong communication and presentation skills. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Masters preferred). 12+ years of experience in design & development in heavy fabrication industries (trailers, tankers, containers, defence equipment). Candidates who have handled defence projects are preferred and will have advantage. Strong understanding of material standards, welding, and fabrication processes. Expertise in CAD software: AutoCAD (2D), CATIA (3D), SolidWorks (3D). Knowledge of ASME, ISO, and other international standards. Technical Skills: CAD software proficiency (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks). BOM preparation and drawing detailing. Sheet metal design and fabrication drawing preparation. Knowledge of APQP, ECR/ECN, and design validation processes. Material selection and compliance with EN, ASTM, IS standards. Project & Soft Skills: Project management and leadership abilities.
