Senior SMSF accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior SMSF Accountant to join our team. The role involves managing complex Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) compliance, taxation, and audit support processes. The successful candidate will lead SMSF accounting operations, mentor junior staff and ensure all deliverables meet Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and ASIC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

SMSF Compliance & Reporting

• Prepare annual financial statements, tax returns, and member statements for SMSFs.
• Ensure compliance with SIS Act, ATO regulations, and superannuation legislation.
• Liaise with auditors for smooth completion of SMSF audits.

Leadership & Team Development

• Supervise and mentor junior accountants, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance.
• Drive process improvements and digital adoption to enhance efficiency.

Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with teams to streamline SMSF workflows.
• Maintain high-quality documentation and ensure data integrity across accounting systems.
• Contribute to firm-wide initiatives on compliance-first outsourcing and client empowerment.

Qualifications & Skills

• CA/CMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Minimum 4 years of SMSF accounting experience, with strong knowledge of superannuation law.
• Proficiency in SMSF software (e.g., BGL360, Class Super, or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills for client and team interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with precision and efficiency.
