Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Signal Processing Engineer to own the end-to-end design and optimization of smartphone-video-derived physiological signals and associated digital biomarkers. This role focuses on robust signal extraction under real-world conditions, advanced artifact suppression, and clinically interpretable feature engineering suitable for consumer-grade capture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve rPPG and TOI pipelines using RGB and IR video, including motion and illumination compensation.
• Develop multi-stage preprocessing, denoising, and signal quality scoring frameworks (e.g., adaptive filtering, ICA/PCA variants, color-space transformations, skin ROI stabilization, and confidence metrics).
• Build cross-device normalization strategies and error-bounded estimators to ensure consistency across hardware and environments.
• Define biomarker-level acceptance criteria, quality thresholds, and failure modes for consumer-grade physiological signal capture.
• Partner closely with iOS and Machine Learning teams to integrate algorithms into on-device or hybrid processing pipelines.
• Produce clear, rigorous technical documentation to support regulatory-risk positioning and Apple App Review requirements.

Expected Deliverables

• Comprehensive benchmark reports across device models, skin tones, lighting conditions, and motion scenarios.
• Biomarker feature specification sheets, including recommended thresholds and confidence bands.
• A/B evaluation results demonstrating improvements in signal stability, missingness, and downstream inference performance.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in physiological signal processing, computational biomedical engineering, or a closely related field.
• Deep expertise in rPPG, TOI, heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV) estimation, and artifact mitigation techniques.
• Strong proficiency in Python and at least one real-time or low-level runtime environment (e.g., C++, Swift, Metal, or equivalent).
• Proven experience validating algorithms against ground-truth references and conducting rigorous performance evaluation.

Nice to Have

• Experience with camera-based blood pressure–adjacent proxies, stress or ANS metrics, or multimodal signal fusion.
• Publications or commercial experience in consumer-grade biosensing technologies.
• Familiarity with building and defending “wellness-grade” claims frameworks.
