The Role
Sauce Labs is looking for technical leadership in a strategic component connecting customer mobile and gaming applications to our Error Reporting service. This is a challenge beyond just writing another app and focusing on UX. Can you approach Android as a Linux distro, and develop both native and managed code to build bridges between OS fundamentals and the application layer? Here you will lean into unique technical challenges and gain a career-bumping breadth of experience across multiple mobile and gaming platforms. And as a technical leader you will work with business and engineering leadership across Sauce Labs and directly with engineers from other leading tech companies.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with product and engineering leadership to design and develop elegant solutions for application observability.
- Solve leading-edge problems bridging the layers of an application, from managed to native to OS, in multiple platforms - mobile, gaming, managed languages, web and more.
- Deliver a mix of open-source and proprietary software.
- Advise customer-facing organizations on the mobile domain.
Required Skills
- Approximately 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
- Required: C++ expertise, and proven experience in mobile/gaming app development, especially with languages like Java, Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C.
- Experience designing SDKs and tools that are intuitive for external developers to integrate, with clear APIs and documentation.
- Threading and concurrency: Experience addressing race conditions, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks in mobile and gaming SDKs.
- Cross-language integration: Experience with JNI/NDK (Java - C/C++) and bridging layers (Unity/Unreal - native)
- A solid understanding of the crash reporting toolchain, and experience with native crash reporting tools like Crashpad and PLCrashReporter. Being comfortable with analyzing a minidump.
- Performance & footprint awareness: Ability to design SDKs that are lightweight, efficient, and minimally intrusive to customer applications.
- Security best practices: Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and strategies for securely handling crash and error data.
- Strong knowledge of cross-platform build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and package distribution (e.g., Gradle, CocoaPods, npm, Unity Package Manager).
This position is required to be in office 5 days per week.
