Job Description

Job Title: Sales Officer – Modern Trade

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka

Department: Sales & Marketing

Reporting To: Area Sales Manager / Regional Sales Manager

Job Purpose

To drive sales growth and enhance brand presence in Modern Trade (MT) outlets by ensuring strong relationships, effective merchandising, timely execution of sales plans, and achievement of monthly targets within assigned territories.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Revenue Growth

* Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets for modern trade accounts in Bangalore.

* Drive secondary sales through efficient planning and execution.

* Ensure timely order booking, invoicing, and payment follow-ups.

2. Modern Trade Account Management

* Manage relationships with key modern trade chains such as Reliance, DMart, More, Spar, Big Bazaar, SPAR, Metro, etc.

* Negotiate shelf space, promotions, and visibility plans.

* Ensure compliance with MT policies and SLAs.

3. Merchandising & In-Store Execution

* Ensure proper product placement, availability, price communication, and planogram adherence.

* Coordinate with merchandisers/promoters for daily store-level execution.

* Monitor stock levels and minimize out-of-stock/expiry.

4. Promotions & Marketing Activation

* Implement trade promotions, sampling activities, and in-store branding.

* Track promotion performance and share insights with management.

5. Market Intelligence & Reporting

* Track competitor pricing, schemes, new launches, and merchandising activities.

* Submit daily/weekly sales reports, stock status, and MT insights to managers.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or any related field.

Experience

* 1–3 years of experience in Sales within the FMCG or Food industry, preferably in Modern Trade.

Skills

* Strong communication and negotiation skills.

* Good understanding of Modern Trade operations.

* Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.

* Ability to handle multiple stores and tight deadlines.

* Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
