About the Role

Senior Quality Engineer L1


technical depth, business understanding, and team leadership


Key Responsibilities:

Quality & Automation Strategy

  • Define automation test strategies and test plans for low to medium complexity applications.
  • Align testing approach with business needs, ROI, and coverage requirements.
  • Ensure end-to-end QE processes across test case creation, execution, defect management, and closure.
  • Devise regression testing approaches and maintain test coverage matrices.

Technical Execution

  • Design and develop robust automation frameworks using best practices (Page Object Model, modularization, design patterns).
  • Develop automation scripts for UI, API, and mobile platforms.
  • Work with BDD/TDD methodologies and tools such as Cucumber, TestNG, JUnit.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines integrating testing suites with tools like Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins.
  • Validate APIs (REST, SOAP, microservices) using tools like RestAssured, Postman, SOAP UI.
  • Perform schema validation, exception handling, and data serialization (POJOs).

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Mentor and guide a small QE team (2–5 engineers).
  • Oversee estimation for low/medium complexity projects using standard estimation techniques.
  • Act as primary POC for client discussions, managing expectations, escalations, and reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders while ensuring delivery of quality outcomes.

Innovation & Tools

  • Explore and adopt new automation tools (open-source & licensed).
  • Set up and manage test environments on cloud platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
  • Utilize service virtualization tools like CA Lisa, PACT broker setup, contract testing.
  • Integrate frameworks with test management tools like Xray, Zephyr.


Qualifications

  • 4–6 years

    of QA/QE experience, including automation for distributed, scalable systems.
  • Strong programming skills in

    Java, Groovy, or JavaScript

    .
  • Hands-on with at least one GUI automation tool (desktop or mobile).
  • Expertise in SQL and database validation.
  • Strong knowledge of API testing, microservices, JSON/XML parsing.
  • Experience with modern agile practices (BDD, DevOps, CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with common design patterns (Builder, Factory, Singleton, Facade).
  • Exposure to domains such as

    banking, insurance, automobile, hospitality, retail, healthcare

    .
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Full-time

    Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science
