Role Overview

Senior OSP Design Engineer

This role is ideal for experienced OSP professionals with strong technical, analytical, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and design of OSP infrastructure including conduits/ducts, aerial/underground fiber/copper cabling, manholes/handholes, pedestals, poles, splice and termination points, and building-entry/riser layouts.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, construction packages, work-prints, route plans, BOMs, and cost estimates.
• Conduct or supervise field surveys, pole and manhole audits, utility inspections, and site-walks to validate existing conditions and identify conflicts.
• Coordinate with municipalities, utility companies, permitting agencies, and authorities for ROW, approvals, make-ready work, and compliance.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously—organizing priorities, tracking progress, and reporting updates to managers and stakeholders.
• Review, guide, and mentor junior designers/engineers, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and adherence to project and company standards.

Requirements

• Proficiency in design and mapping tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, IQGeo, and ARAMIS.
• Strong understanding of aerial, underground, buried, building-entry, and riser OSP network types.
• Thorough knowledge of FTTx/FTTH/FTTP backbone and distribution network design.
• Experience with permitting, ROW processes, utility coordination, easements, and jurisdictional compliance.
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to handle multiple design packages, coordinate teams, and manage deliverables.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to propose optimal routing and design solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical, Civil, Architecture, or a related engineering field.

Experience

• Minimum 4–5+ years of experience in OSP engineering/design for fiber/copper telecom networks.
• Experience across commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure-based projects.
• Experience with US Solar Design processes is an added advantage.
