Role Purpose:
A member of the EMEAA HLG supporting projects across Europe, IMEA, and EAPAC, with a focus on pre-pipeline design support and documentation review to ensure high-quality, brand-aligned design outcomes consistent with IHG’s strategic direction and global design standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Works closely with the region’s Development team in supporting the feasibility review of properties that are considered for acquisition, management or franchise into an IHG brand. Supporting with on-brand and cost-efficient designs, space planning, interior design and construction and project management techniques. Also liaising with the Engineering team to advise on creative design solutions in a proactive fashion.
- Works closely with the Senior Director of Design & Engineering, IMEA to understand IHG investment goals and brand strategies and standards for each Hotel project through regular internal presentations at key design stages.
- Working across all brands, provides support to Owners as per the Technical Services Agreement throughout the project lifespan from inception through consultant appointment, concept development through construction, to handover to IHG operating teams. Lead and manage workflow, involving internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure project progress on a timely basis. This includes communicating key decisions that might impact cost, resource and dateline to internal & external stakeholders.
- Manages the process of reviewing Hotel projects in terms of IHG design standards, including concept design, schematic/ Detailed Design & Tender documentation, periodic site inspections and Pre-opening inspections.
- Works closely with Engineering function within the region to collaborate on issues impacting project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.
- Champions green design and sustainability practices in the industry, support the company’s Journey to Tomorrow net/zero carbon ambitions.
- Collaborates with and provides feedback to all Brand teams on trend and challenges in order to refine Brand Standards and shape future requirements.
- Acts as a subject matter mentor to manager level colleagues, assisting the mutual personal and team-wide growth of Design & Engineering.
Key Skills & Experiences:
Educational Attainment:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design and/or Project Management
Critical Expertise & Experience:
- Typically, 7+ years direct combined experience in design, construction, project management of hospitality projects. Experience of working with international hotel brands is desired.
- Strong knowledge of architectural, design, and construction principles, with an understanding of applicable laws
- A self-starter who is a committed team player with flexible interpersonal style; effective communication and project management skills; strong influencing skills; experience in a multi-national environment and ability to deal sensitively with different cultural issues and competing requirements.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal oversight and team player who collaborates well with others to drive consensus in pressure and deadline filled environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for purpose of providing and explaining project information and status to internal and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors, senior management.
