We are seeking a

Senior Machine Learning Engineer

to lead the development of voice and speech models for multilingual support. This role involves

vector similarity scoring on single-word speech samples across diverse languages

, implementing

cloud-scale vector databases on mobile devices

, and applying

deep expertise in speech science

.You will be taking over from the current engineer, so we are looking for someone who can

step in immediately, own the ML function, and scale it forward

.This is a

full-time role based in India

with flexibility for remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models for speech recognition and language support.
• Apply vector similarity scoring techniques for single-word speech samples across multiple languages.
• Implement and optimize vector databases for real-time processing, including deployment on mobile phones.
• Work with audio and voice datasets to improve performance across Indian and tribal languages.
• Collaborate with the founding team to align ML solutions with product goals and long-term vision.
• Stay updated with the latest research in speech science, vector databases, and multilingual AI.
  

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• Advanced Degree: Master’s or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Speech Science, or a related field.
• Core Expertise: Strong background in machine learning for voice/audio processing.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow (or PyTorch), vector databases, and mobile deployment frameworks.
• Applied Experience: Hands-on experience implementing vector similarity scoring and scaling ML models to production.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle complex challenges in speech recognition, low-resource languages, and system optimization.
• Ownership Mindset: Ready to independently lead the ML engineering function in a pre-seed startup environment.
  

Good-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with multiple Indian languages and an understanding of linguistic diversity.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure for deploying large-scale ML solutions.
• Exposure to low-resource language datasets and transfer learning approaches.
• Prior experience in a startup environment, building from ground zero.
