Job Description

Senior Engineer – Quality (QA/QC)

Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control

Job Purpose

To execute and control quality inspection activities during fabrication, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and customer requirements at all stages of manufacturing and testing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Inspection & Execution

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections as per approved ITPs and QAPs.
  • Ensure fabrication activities comply with engineering drawings, WPS, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor shop-floor activities related to structures, piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and skids.

2. Welding & Fabrication Control

  • Verify joint fit-up, welding parameters, and welder qualification status.
  • Ensure proper control of welding consumables and batch traceability.
  • Monitor PWHT and heat treatment activities as per procedures.

3. NDT & Testing Coordination

  • Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, UT, PT, MT) as applicable.
  • Ensure dimensional inspection and testing (hydro/pneumatic tests) are carried out correctly.
  • Verify NDT reports and inspection records for accuracy and compliance.

4. Documentation & Traceability

  • Prepare inspection reports, checklists, and daily quality records.
  • Maintain material traceability, heat numbers, and MTC verification.
  • Support preparation of Manufacturing Record Book (MRB) / Quality Dossier.

5. Non-Conformance Reporting

  • Identify deviations and raise NCRs in coordination with senior quality staff.
  • Follow up for corrective actions and re-inspections.

6. Customer & TPI Interaction

  • Assist during customer and third-party inspections.
  • Ensure inspection readiness and closure of punch points.

7. Safety & Discipline Support

  • Ensure quality inspection activities are carried out in line with safety procedures.
  • Promote quality awareness and adherence to SOPs on the shop floor.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, and inspection practices
  • Ability to read and interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and standards
  • Knowledge of applicable ASME, IS, AWS, ASTM codes
  • Attention to detail and problem identification skills

Qualifications

  • BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy
  • NDT Level II / Welding Inspector certification – preferred

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in product fabrication / heavy engineering / EPC industry
  • Hands-on exposure to pressure vessels, piping, and structural fabrication

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
