Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced
Senior Electrical & Power Electronics Design Engineer
to lead the design, development, and validation of
electrical and power electronic components
for HVAC and transport refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in
NPD, DFMEA, power conversion systems, and component-level design
while ensuring compliance with global safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronic components including converters, inverters, and battery chargers based on product requirements.
- Develop and validate electrical components such as temperature sensors, actuators, solenoids, motors, drives, batteries, and contactors.
- Design and debug embedded microprocessor control systems and controller hardware.
- Perform modeling and simulation of electrical/power electronic components (using Matlab, Dymola, or equivalent).
- Create and maintain detailed documentation including specifications, drawings, and application specification documents.
- Develop and execute DFMEA, DVP, and component qualification programs.
- Conduct and coordinate regulatory testing (HALT, EMC, electrical safety compliance) with external agencies.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) projects through milestone deliverables, design reviews, and validation testing.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques (6 Sigma, root cause analysis) to resolve quality and reliability issues.
- Provide corrective and preventive design change recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global SMEs to ensure project success.
- Support VAVE initiatives, cost optimization, and hardware design improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in electrical product design and development.
- Strong knowledge of power electronics design (converters, inverters, battery chargers).
- Proficiency in DFMEA, DVP, and test plan development/execution.
- Experience with electrical safety standards and AC/DC mobile voltage systems.
- Strong background in analog circuits, protection circuits, controller hardware.
- Hands-on experience in schematic design tools; exposure to Altium is beneficial.
- Knowledge of PLM/Windchill systems for product lifecycle management.
- Experience in software testing/debug and control systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and systematic problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills (Good To Have)
- Exposure to hardware design using Altium.
- Experience with simulation tools (Matlab, Dymola).
- Familiarity with 6 Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for automotive/machinery environments.
