Main Purpose:

The Senior Engineer Drilling is responsible for planning, design, and execution of CBM wells to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations. The role plays a critical part in driving technical excellence, operational reliability, and continuous improvement across well delivery.


Job Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate end-to-end well planning and execution activities across drilling, completion, and well testing operations.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update the Well Basis of Design for all operational phases including drilling, completion, and testing.
  • Act as Company Man on drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and completion rigs as required.
  • Organize and participate in peer reviews of Well Basis of Design and operational programs.
  • Ensure all well programs comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Develop and maintain D&C program processes and ensure completion of all required check sheets.
  • Capture, document, and implement lessons learned from all well programs.
  • Provide technical inputs for service and equipment bids and participate in tender evaluations as required.
  • Lead and challenge engineering teams to deliver effective technical solutions during unscheduled events.
  • Support operations in managing unplanned and emergency situations at site.
  • Prepare technical inputs and actively participate in Technical Committee meetings.
  • Coordinate well site operations along with logistics, equipment, materials, and manpower support.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of well engineering policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain and close remedial action plans arising out of audits.
  • Prepare Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for well programs.
  • Maintain medium- and long-term material requirement plans for all wells.
  • Ensure End of Well Reports are completed within defined timelines.
  • Perform cost reconciliation and close-out at the completion of each well.
  • Mentor and coach junior drilling engineers for technical and professional development.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of horizontal and deviated drilling, mud engineering, casing design, hydraulic fracturing, completions design, and well testing.
  • Mandatory experience with industry-standard drilling and well design software.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Adequate computer proficiency with strong documentation capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Education Required:

  • Graduate or Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering.


Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in drilling and well engineering.
  • Proven experience in well planning, design, and execution.
  • Strong capability to make technically sound and cost-efficient decisions.
