Background/Experience Position is part of a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) team that is responsible for supporting the Combustion, emission, performance and mechanical development of Caterpillar engines. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Global team in design, development and validation of mechanical system performance through CFD analysis. Candidate will be responsible for doing CFD simulation independently and improve / develop new processes. The candidate is expected to evaluate different designs and provide suitable recommendations to improve/develop new products. Candidate must ensure compliance to all process requirements & Quality systems. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and guiding team members on technical aspects. Degree Requirement Bachelor/Master/PhD from reputed institute in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering/ Chemical / Aero / Ag (3 to 4 Years of Industrial Experience) with specialization in the fields of fluid and thermal sciences. Candidate is expected to have strong background in Multiphase flow, heat transfer, turbulence and numerical methods. Technical Excellence Education – Bachelor/Master/PhD degree in an accredited Engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Chemical, Aero, Ag) Experience - 4 to 6 years’ experience Engineering complex mechanical systems within the Power Systems or related industries Excellent working knowledge of Thermodynamics and Fluid mechanics with a proven record of utilizing these skills to develop products within the Power Systems industry. Ability to perform complex assignments Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills 1D/0D engine performance simulation knowledge Experience of control system development A willingness to work on a broad range of Power Systems applications A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality The ability to effectively develop and manage complex project plans, starting at concept and ending at final engine product The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions Demonstrated expertise in one or more components or systems Problem Solving Lead the development and optimization of Power System performance requirements Simulate & develop complex Power System recipes from concept and production Lead and support New Product and Technology Introduction programs across a diverse portfolio of Power System products Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in a discipline for which you are beginning to build a reputation as an expert Perform complex analysis work, identifies, and solves problems Technical delivery Evaluate products and processes Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas Support Built-In-Quality (BIQ) efforts to improve development process efficiencies Keep up to date on new technologies or developing new technologies Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers Effective Communications Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills Self-starter with an inquisitive mind Strong customer focus with ability to work closely and deliver timely support Ability to work in teams as well as independently Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other business units Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers Posting Dates May 19, 2025 - June 1, 2025 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
