About the Role

AMS Legal is seeking a Senior Associate with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in litigation, particularly in white-collar criminal defence and miscellaneous writ matters. The ideal candidate will be expected to take ownership of matters, appear before the High Court and Trial Courts, and assist in strategic planning and execution of complex legal challenges. This role offers significant courtroom exposure, drafting responsibility, and the opportunity to be involved in high-profile matters across regulatory and criminal litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle white-collar crime matters involving EOW, SFIO, CBI, ED, SEBI, ROC, and related agencies.

• Draft criminal petitions, anticipatory and regular bail applications, quash petitions, writ petitions under Article 226, and other allied pleadings.

• Appear independently and alongside senior counsel in High Court and Subordinate Courts.

• Engage in research and prepare legal opinions, strategies, and brief notes for internal use and client advisories.

• Work on matters involving offences under PMLA, Companies Act, TNPID Act, IPC, CrPC, and other regulatory statutes.

• Coordinate with clients, investigators, and external counsel, and manage timelines and procedural compliances.

• Support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative working environment.

Candidate Profile

• LL.B. from a reputed law school or university; LL.M. (optional but preferred).

• 3 to 5 years of focused experience in criminal litigation and writ matters.

• Sound knowledge of CrPC, IPC, PMLA, TNPID, and constitutional provisions under Articles 226/227.

• Proven ability to draft with clarity, precision, and purpose.

• Courtroom experience, including drafting and arguing at the High Court or Sessions Court level.

• Strong legal research skills; familiarity with legal databases like SCC Online, Manupatra, etc.

• Proactive attitude with an ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
