Role Overview:
We're seeking an experienced AI Product Owner to bridge the gap between our advanced AI/ML technology and real-world healthcare applications. You'll translate complex healthcare requirements into technical specifications, orchestrate our AI/ML engineering team, and drive product development from prototype to production-ready enterprise platform.
Core Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Execution (40%)
- Translate healthcare industry requirements (clinical guidelines, insurance contracts, quality measures) into detailed technical specifications
- Own the product roadmap, balancing technical innovation with customer needs
- Define and prioritize features for our hybrid intelligence platform
- Create detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering teams
- Manage sprint planning and agile development processes
Technical Team Orchestration (30%)
- Coordinate between Graph Engineers, ML Scientists, Clinical Knowledge Engineers, and Platform Developers
- Facilitate technical architecture decisions balancing AI capabilities with production constraints
- Ensure seamless integration between rule-based systems and machine learning components
- Drive technical debt discussions and platform scalability planning
AI/ML Product Management (20%)
- Define requirements for machine learning models, training pipelines, and inference systems
- Establish metrics for model performance, explainability, and reliability
- Oversee the productization of research models into deployable services
- Manage the feedback loop between production performance and model improvements
Stakeholder Management (10%)
- Interface with healthcare customers to understand complex workflows
- Present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Support fundraising efforts with product demonstrations and technical documentation
- Collaborate with founder on strategic product decisions
Required Experience:
Essential Qualifications:
- 5+ years as Product Owner/Manager for AI/ML products in production
- Proven track record of shipping enterprise AI products from concept to scale
- Experience translating complex business logic into technical requirements
- Hands-on experience with both traditional ML and modern deep learning approaches
- Demonstrated ability to work in startup environments (Seed to Series B preferred)
- Experience managing technical teams of 5-15 engineers
- Strong understanding of AI/ML development lifecycle, including data pipelines, model training, deployment, and monitoring
Technical Competencies:
- Deep understanding of machine learning concepts (not necessarily coding, but architecture and capabilities)
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, ontologies, or rule-based systems
- Experience with enterprise software requirements (security, compliance, scalability)
- Understanding of healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) is a plus
- Familiarity with explainable AI and regulatory requirements
Startup Experience Requirements:
- Proven ability to work with ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements
- Experience wearing multiple hats and filling gaps as needed
- Track record of building products with limited resources
- Comfort with direct customer interaction and rapid iteration
- Experience scaling products from 0 to 1 and 1 to 100

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate has previously taken an AI product from research prototype to production in a regulated industry. You've worked at an AI startup that achieved product-market fit and understand the unique challenges of productizing ML models. You're equally comfortable discussing neural network architectures with engineers and value-based care contracts with healthcare executives. You thrive in ambiguity and can create structure where none exists.
Nice to Have:
- Healthcare industry experience, particularly with providers or payers
- Experience with symbolic AI, expert systems, or rules engines
- Knowledge of value-based care, quality measures, or clinical guidelines
- Previous experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs
- Track record at companies that successfully exited or reached Series B+
