Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Sales Head will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets, expand market share, and strengthen relationships with institutional, trade, and digital partners. The role requires deep understanding of the publishing industry, market dynamics, and the ability to lead and inspire a high-performing sales team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

·        Develop and execute sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.

·        Build and manage distribution across online platforms (Amazon, Flipkart, Kindle, etc.) and offline channels (bookstores, literary festivals, direct sales).

·        Identify and explore new business models such as co-publishing, author partnerships, bulk sales, and digital licensing.

2. Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify and develop new markets.

·        Drive growth across B2B (bookstores, distributors and B2C (direct sales, online platforms) channels.

·        Explore new revenue models—digital content, e-books, licensing, and rights sales.

·        Collaborate to plan the commercial positioning of their books (pricing, launch strategy, distribution).

·        Provide sales insights and performance feedback to internal editorial teams.

·        Forecast demand, track market trends, and adjust sales plans accordingly.

3. Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, distributors. Oversee customer retention initiatives and ensure high satisfaction levels.

4. Product & Pricing Strategy

  • Collaborate with editorial and production teams to provide market feedback on titles and trends.

5. Digital & Online Sales Growth

  • Drive sales performance on e-commerce platforms (Amazon, Flipkart, publisher’s own website).
  • Develop and grow digital product sales (e-books, subscriptions). Partner with digital marketing for online campaigns and promotions.

7. Brand Representation & Industry Networking

  • Represent the Rekhta Foundation at industry events, book fairs, and conferences.
  • Build visibility and reputation of the brand in trade and institutional networks.
