We are looking for a Robotics/ Mechatronics Engineer + Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join the Robotics Specialisation team at our Computer Science & Engineering Department. This academic-focused role requires a strong foundation in robotics, embedded systems, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students in cutting-edge engineering disciplines. This is a full-time academic role. Key Responsibilities Course Development & Delivery: Design and deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions in Robotics, including areas such as robotic kinematics, dynamics, control systems, embedded programming, and perception. Lab Management: Conduct and manage lab sessions using platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ROS (Robot Operating System), and simulation tools like Gazebo or Webots. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with faculty members, researchers, and industry partners to enhance the robotics curriculum and align it with industry demands. Academic Excellence & Student Success: Mentor students, assist with robotics project work, and ensure their academic and technical growth. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with university administrators and Newton School representatives to drive innovation in robotics education. Research & Innovation: Encourage students to engage in research, robotics competitions, and real-world prototyping challenges. Qualifications & Experience Must-Have Prior experience as a Robotics Engineer, Embedded Systems Developer, or Software Developer with a focus on robotics applications. Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and experience with microcontrollers and hardware integration. Hands-on expertise with robotics hardware (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, actuators) and frameworks like ROS. Solid understanding of robotics principles including control theory, localization, path planning, and automation. Strong ability to simplify complex robotics concepts and communicate effectively with students. Good-to-Have Prior teaching or mentoring experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Experience with AI/ML applications in robotics (e.g., computer vision, SLAM). Familiarity with hardware prototyping, PCB design, or mechatronics systems.
