Ro Plant Engineer

Job Summary:

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all water treatment systems including raw water, soft water, RO, DM, WFI, and wastewater treatment (ETP/STP) to ensure uninterrupted and compliant utility supply to production and support areas in an API pharmaceutical facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

• Operate and monitor the following water treatment systems:
• Raw Water Pre-treatment
• Softening Units
• Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant
• De-Mineralization (DM) Plant
• Water for Injection (WFI) Generation and Distribution Systems
• Purified Water (PW) Systems
• Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
• Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
• Ensure continuous supply of treated water meeting required specifications (as per USP/EP/IP for WFI, PW, etc.).
• Monitor operational parameters and maintain proper log sheets for each system.
• Optimize chemical dosing, regeneration cycles, and water recovery for energy and cost efficiency.

Maintenance:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all water treatment equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, valves, membranes, filters, instruments (conductivity meters, flow meters, pressure gauges), and control panels.
• Coordinate with external vendors for AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) and calibration of instruments.
• Maintain spares inventory and raise requisitions for critical spare parts.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Maintain equipment history cards, calibration records, and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, GEP, and safety norms.
• Participate in internal and external audits (USFDA, EU, WHO, etc.).
• Prepare and review SOPs, maintenance checklists, and risk assessments.

EHS & Training:

• Follow and promote safety practices during operation and maintenance.
• Train junior staff and operators on safe operation, routine checks, and emergency handling.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

• Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering

Experience:

• 6-8 years of relevant experience in water treatment O&M within a regulated pharmaceutical (preferably API) manufacturing environment.

Skills:

• Sound knowledge of RO, DM, WFI, and ETP/STP processes
• Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA systems and water quality instruments
• Familiarity with GMP/GLP practices and pharma documentation
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and team coordination skills
