A fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the group of Prof Andrei Andreyev in the Nuclear Physics Group at the University of York to work on a range of topics in the nuclear and laser spectroscopy of heavy nuclei at several facilities in Europe (e.g. ISOLDE-CERN), ANL (US) and RIKEN (Japan). Role The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparing and conducting the experiments at these facilities and analysing/publishing the results from them. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong background in analysis of large data sets from Nuclear Physics experiments and in simulations, and have some knowledge of laser-ionization technique. Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed You will have: PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics or equivalent experience Hands-on experience with different types of nuclear detectors, in particular with germanium, silicon and scintillators Strong prior experience with the laser ionization technique (e.g. as used at ISOLDE) Experience of data analysis and simulations Experience of setting up and planning nuclear physics experiments Strong team working and communication skills Interview date: To be confirmed For informal enquiries: please contact Prof Andrei Andreyev at Andrei.Andreyev@york.ac.uk or or contact the PET Admin team at pet-admin@york.ac.uk for further details about this position .
