Research Associate for North Western Railway (NWR) Project

Project: Assessment of Goods and Parcel Traffic and Strategies to Improve Market Share of NWR.

The project with North Western Railway (NWR) focuses on evaluating the current status of goods and parcel traffic and developing strategies to enhance NWR’s market share in the freight and parcel business. It requires comprehensive data collection, stakeholder engagement, and strategic analysis to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and market competitiveness.

The position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to transportation, logistics, and large-scale operations management within one of India’s most critical public sector organisations. It is particularly well-suited for candidates aspiring to pursue doctoral studies in operations, logistics, transportation systems, or public policy.

• Collect, clean, and analyse operational and commercial data related to goods and parcel traffic of NWR.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews and surveys with railway officials, freight customers, logistics service providers, etc.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and policy briefs for submission to NWR.

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or related fields.

• The candidate will be working out of IIM Udaipur with the PI and Co-PI. However, the candidate must 

  possess the ability and willingness to extensively travel across Rajasthan on a frequent basis

   for data collection, interviews, and survey work.
• Good command of Hindi and English.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
