Job Summary:

The R&D Manager will oversee research and development activities to innovate and improve fertilizer formulations and production processes. The role also includes managing the quality control function to ensure all products meet regulatory standards and customer specifications. The candidate should possess strong scientific knowledge, regulatory awareness, and leadership skills to drive technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new formulations for fertilizers, biofertilizers, and micronutrient blends based on agronomic research and market needs.
• Optimize existing products for nutrient efficiency, solubility, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct pilot-scale trials for product validation and monitor multi-location field trials in collaboration with agronomists and universities.
• Establish incoming material inspection protocols and supplier quality audits. Evaluate raw materials based on chemical and physical parameters.
• Develop SOPs for batch sampling, testing, and documentation. Monitor production process quality checkpoints.
• Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, cost, and sustainability.
• Maintain QC laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and data logs.
• Identify emerging technologies, formulations, and suppliers in global markets. Stay updated on market trends, government policies, and competitors' products.
• Collaborate with marketing and sales for technical support and product training.
• Ensure compliance with BIS, FCO, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Prepare COAs (Certificates of Analysis) and batch release documentation.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues.
• Maintain proper sampling, testing, and record-keeping practices.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of production processes and laboratories.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications and Experience:

• M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Chemistry, Agriculture, Soil Science, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in R&D and/or QC in fertilizer or agrochemical industry.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Deep understanding of fertilizer chemistry, agronomy, and industrial production.
• Knowledge of government regulations (FCO, CIB norms, BIS standards).
• Knowledge of regulatory submission and product registration process is an advantage.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in laboratory testing techniques and statistical analysis.
• Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
