1. Role Overview

R&D Manager

2. Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Innovation

• Lead design and development of new automotive electronic products (infotainment, ADAS accessories, chargers, vacuum solutions, repair kits, sensors, IoT/connected car devices).
  
• Convert product requirements and market needs into feasible product specifications.
  
• Oversee circuit design, PCB development, embedded hardware, firmware, and system integration.
  
• Drive innovation in cost-effective, high-performance electronic solutions.
  

Technical Leadership

• Guide and mentor R&D teams (hardware, embedded software, mechanical design, testing).
  
• Review architecture, schematics, and technical documentation.
  
• Approve prototypes, engineering builds, and design validation plans.
  

Project Management

• Manage complete R&D lifecycle: concept prototype validation production release.
  
• Create project timelines, development milestones, and resource plans.
  
• Ensure projects meet quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  

Testing, Compliance & Quality

• Ensure product compliance with automotive standards such as

  ISO 16750, AIS, BIS, EMC/EMI, E-mark

  , and customer-specific requirements.
• Oversee environmental testing, endurance testing, and safety validation.
  
• Collaborate with QA for defect reduction and continuous product improvement.
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Tooling, NPI (New Product Introduction), and Sales teams.
  
• Engage with suppliers for component selection, custom parts, and feasibility reviews.
  
• Coordinate with production teams to support mass manufacturing and process setup.
  

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed design documentation, FMEAs, validation reports, and release notes.
  
• Present progress to leadership with actionable insights and risk assessments.
  

External Technology Partnerships

• Evaluate new technologies, vendors, development tools, and design methodologies.
  
• Build relationships with testing labs, certification authorities, and technology partners.
  

3. Required Qualifications

Education

• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in

  Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or related fields

  .

Experience

• 15 years

  of experience in automotive electronics R&D.
• Minimum

  3+ years

  in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven track record of delivering at least

  2–3 complete product development cycles

  .

4. Technical Skills Required

• Strong expertise in electronics product design (analog, digital, power electronics).
  
• Hands-on experience with:
  
• PCB design tools (Altium, Eagle, KiCad).
  
• Microcontrollers, CAN/LIN protocols, UART/SPI/I2C.
  
• Automotive communication systems, telematics, IoT modules.
  
• Embedded firmware (C, C++, RTOS).
  
• ADAS sensors, infotainment modules, BLDC motor controllers (preferred).
  
• Knowledge of DFM/DFT, tooling, injection molding (for product enclosures).
  
• Understanding of certifications:

  AIS-156, AIS-004, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 9001
