1. Role Summary

We are looking for a highly energetic and detail-oriented Junior Quality Engineer

(Fresher) to join our Quality team at the Periyapalayam manufacturing unit.

The selected candidate will support Incoming Inspection, In-Process Quality, Line Quality

Control (LQC), Testing, Documentation, and Product Validation for Gas Cooktops, Hobs,

and Chimneys.

This role offers strong learning exposure to BIS standards, product performance

evaluation, safety testing, and OEM/ODM quality processes.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

 Inspect raw materials, sheet metal parts, castings, glass, burners, valves, tubing,

and other bought-out items.

 Verify supplier quality based on drawings, specifications, and sampling plans.

 Prepare IQC reports and highlight rejections/non-conformities to the SQE &

Procurement teams.

B. In-Process Quality Control

 Conduct quality checks during pressing, welding, frame forming, casting,

assembly, and leak testing processes.

 Ensure adherence to work instructions, control plans, and SOPs.

 Report process defects and work with production operators for immediate

rectification.

C. Line Quality Control (LQC) & Final Quality

 Perform visual, dimensional, and functional checks on products during assembly.

 Carry out performance and safety tests as required by BIS standards (IS 4246, IS

14612, IS 15558, etc.).

 Support final inspection before dispatch.

D. Testing & Validation

 Conduct tests such as:

o Thermal efficiency

o Gas leakage test

o Combustion test

o Endurance test

o Flame stability test

 Maintain test records and prepare evaluation reports.

E. Documentation & Reporting

 Maintain checklists, inspection reports, rejection logs, and daily quality MIS.

 Assist in updating Control Plans, SOPs, ECNs, and Defect Matrices.

 Track defects, analyse recurring issues, and provide preliminary findings.

F. Cross-Functional Coordination

 Work closely with Production, Tool Room, NPD, and Stores.

 Provide feedback to the NPD team for proto samples during development trials.

 Support Supplier Quality for supplier audits and corrective actions.

G. Safety & Compliance

 Ensure all inspections follow BIS, ISO 9001, and internal quality guidelines.

 Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised inspection area.

3. Required Skills

 Basic knowledge of mechanical measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer,

Height Gauge).

 Understanding of manufacturing processes (pressing, welding, assembly).

 Knowledge of basic quality concepts (Sampling, 7 QC Tools, 4M Analysis, PDCA).

 Good communication skills & willingness to learn.

 Proficiency in Excel for reporting.

 Ability to read basic engineering drawings (added advantage).
