Wells Quality Engineer is a broad role definition for individuals, generally with a sound engineering background, handling Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities associated with equipment manufacturing activities supporting the ExxonMobil Global Wells Teams. This role focusses on application of risk mitigations through Quality best practices and processes to ensure integrity and compliance of materials, products, and equipment to industry and specified requirements.
What you will do
- Responsible for review and approval of supplier Quality Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans for Downhole Completion Equipment, OCTG and Wellhead and tree equipment.
- Steward supplier evaluation and assessments, facility qualification and API Q1 compliance audits.
- Experienced and familiar with API and proprietary premium (VAM, Tenaris, JFE and Hunting), rotary connection inspection and threading operations.
- Provides assistance to Wells procurement teams to incorporate Wells Quality Manual (WQM) and associated Appendices as part of the quality exhibits for tender documentation package.
- Lead or support supplier assessment to ensure compliance with the ExxonMobil Quality specification, API Q1 and industry standards such as API 11D1, API 14A, API 14L and API 19G1 etc.
- Use statistical process control (SPC) and quality performance data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and improve processes.
- Organizing, planning, and supervision of verification programs directly or via Third Party Inspectors (TPIs) to ensure conformance with the applicable ExxonMobil specifications and industry standards.
- Ensures appropriate budget allocation for Third Party inspection agencies collaborating with Wells Teams.
- Assists Wells Engineering staff with resolution of Nonconformance Reports (NCR) and Requests-for-Exception (RFE).
- Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure investigations for Downhole Completion Equipment s failures or non-conformities.
- Review TPI inspection reports, ensure outstanding concerns and issues are effectively addressed by the supplier prior to releasing the equipment for dispatch to Project site locations.
- Ensure all completion equipment (e.g., Screens, Packers, Safety valves and Liner Hangers) is manufactured, inspected and tested as per ExxonMobil and API specifications.
- Conduct Pre-Production or kick-off meetings with suppliers to ensure their processes and products meet all quality requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with ExxonMobil Principal Engineers, Wells team, and suppliers to resolve quality-related issues and ensure quality requirements are met.
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have bachelor s degree in engineering, technical science or Equivalent.
- Minimum 8-10 Years of experience in oil and gas field industry
- Candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 7.0 out of 10.
- Must have strong knowledge of manufacturing and testing of Downhole Completion Equipment s such as Screens, Packer, Bridge Plug, Safety Valve, Gas Lift Mandrel and Liner Hanger system.
- Must have ASNT NDT Level II certification in MPT, UT, LPT, RT and VT
- Strong Knowledge of API specification for completion equipment s such as API 11D1, API 14A, API 14L and API 19G1 etc.
- Welding certifications such as AWS/CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 are preferable.
- Certification as a Lead Auditor to ISO 9001 or API Q1 or Q2.
- Candidate must have Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
