Quality Assurance

Purpose/Objective

Quality Assurance to ensure compliance and quality assurance across the Defence and Aerospace Final Assembly Line (FAL). The role involves implementing inspection processes, monitoring assembly quality, managing documentation, and ensuring adherence to aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100, MIL-STD, ISO 9001, CEMILAC guidelines).

Key Responsibilities of Role

Quality Assurance & Inspection - Perform in-process and final inspections on assemblies and subassemblies. - Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9102, and customer-specific quality requirements. - Validate assembly processes, torque checks, and fitment per engineering drawings and specifications. - Conduct Inspection and maintain related documentation. - Monitor and verify adherence to work instructions and quality plans on the shop floor. Documentation & Compliance - Prepare and maintain inspection reports, Traceability documentation, and quality records. - Ensure traceability of components and assemblies throughout the FAL process. - Support internal and external audits; ensure readiness for customer and regulatory inspections. - Assist in preparation of Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) and Inspection Plans. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement - Identify non-conformances and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). - Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield. Collaboration - Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues. - Coordinate with external suppliers and inspection agencies for compliance requirements.

Technical Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. - 5+ years of experience in Aerospace Manufacturing Quality, preferably in FAL. - Strong knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and aerospace quality standards. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. - Hands-on experience with inspection tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches). Preferred Skills - Experience with SAP QM or similar ERP systems. - Knowledge of AS9100 requirements. - Familiarity with Inspection and GRR methodologies. - Good presentation and documentation skills. KPIs for Success - Zero customer complaints and audit non-conformances. - 100% compliance with QAP and traceability requirements. - Reduction in assembly defects and improved first-pass yield. - On-time completion of inspection and documentation activities.
