Project Manager – Steel Detailing

Job Summary

The Project Manager – Steel Detailing is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering steel detailing projects in accordance with client requirements, applicable codes, quality standards, and agreed timelines. The role involves managing team members, coordinating with clients, engineers, and fabricators, and ensuring cost-effective and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and manage steel detailing projects from kickoff to final delivery.
• Define project scope, milestones, resources, and deliverables.
• Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying complexity.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Lead Project managers in AU and USA regions.
• Conduct project kickoff meetings and regular progress reviews.
• Handle RFIs, design clarifications, and change management efficiently.
• Ensure client comments and revisions are incorporated accurately and timely.
• Ensure detailing complies with AISC / AWS / ASTM / CSA / AS standards as applicable.
• Review and approve GA drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with connection design teams and structural engineers.
• Resolve technical issues related to constructability and fabrication.
• Lead and manage detailing teams including detailers, checkers, and CAD/BIM modelers.
• Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands.
• Mentor and guide team members to improve technical and productivity skills.
• Conduct performance reviews and support skill development.
• Implement and monitor QA/QC processes and drawing standards.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations.
• Maintain proper project documentation and version control.
• Track project hours, productivity, and cost performance.
• Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports for management and clients.
• Support management in project estimation, proposals, and planning.

• AutoCAD
• MS Excel & MS Office Suite
• BlueBeam and Pdf exchange.

QualificationsEducation

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

• 10– 25 years of experience in steel detailing, with 2+ years in a Project Manager or Lead role.
• Strong exposure to international steel detailing projects (USA, Australia, Middle East).
• Experience working directly with fabricators and EPC clients.

• Experience managing large teams and high-volume projects added advantage.
