Job Description

JD Plant Supervisor / Project Coordinator

  • Oversee daily operations of fertilizer production units (granulation, blending, bagging, utilities).
  • Monitor raw material usage (urea, DAP, MOP, micronutrients, etc.) to minimize wastage.
  • Ensure adherence to FCO (Fertilizer Control Order), ISO standards, and pollution control norms.
  • Supervise operators, technicians, and contract workers for optimal productivity.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control for batch approvals and ensure product consistency.
  • Maintain production logs, downtime analysis, and shift reports.
  • Conduct safety checks for handling chemicals, ammonia storage, and hazardous materials.

Project Coordination:

  • Support project execution such as new plant installations, capacity expansion, modernization, and automation initiatives.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and milestones in coordination with the Project Head.
  • Liaise with procurement, engineering, EHS, and external vendors for timely material and equipment availability.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory approvals (Pollution Control Board, Safety Audits, etc.).
  • Conduct trial runs and assist in plant commissioning activities.
  • Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
  • Enforce safety protocols related to handling fertilizers, chemicals, and pressurized systems.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, PPE compliance checks, and regular safety drills.
  • Ensure effluent treatment plant (ETP) and emission control systems are functioning effectively.
  • Report and investigate incidents/near-misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • People & Team Management
  • Supervise shift in-charges, operators, and technicians.
  • Train and mentor staff on process improvements, equipment handling, and safety practices.
  • Ensure discipline, attendance, and workforce productivity.
  • Foster coordination between production, maintenance, quality, and logistics teams.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of fertilizer manufacturing processes (granulation, blending, drying, coating, and packaging).
  • Familiarity with fertilizer quality norms under FCO 1985.
  • Understanding of ammonia/urea handling, chemical safety, and pollution control systems.
  • Project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SAP / Oracle), and project tracking tools.
