URJA works for rights of homeless women and LBTQ youth aged 18-30 years coming to Mumbai from across the country grappling with systemic inequalities due to gender and caste based violence. Our participatory approach works at prevention, protection and empowerment based rehabilitation of these women by facilitating access to safe spaces, nutrition, holistic healthcare, civil and legal, education and skill building support. Our interventions are driven by an ecosystems framework to bring about sustainable change and create a society where youth from marginalised sexual and gender identities are able to live with dignity and to their fullest potential in a three pronged approach: Holistic rehabilitation; Systemic engagement and societal engagement. It is crucial for members of the civil society and government systems to facilitate safe spaces with the understanding that it serves as a temporary solution in the broader movement to reduce recidivism and homelessness.
Role description
Management
● Mentor and supervise rehabilitation program processes meetings regularly● Coordinate and supervise the mental health interventions● Coordinate and supervise processes towards holistic wellbeing of the participants and implementations of the activities i.e. shelter, holistic health interventions (Physical, Mental, Sexual and Reproductive), livelihood, legal, education● Liaise with other programs to ensure the effective and efficient programme delivery● Ensure that Rehabilitation Programme activities operate within the policies andprocedures of the organization● Communicate with participants and other stakeholders to gain community support for the Rehabilitation Programme and to solicit inputs to improve the programme● Develop partnerships with other organisations to ensure successful rehabilitationplans and represent the organization on various platforms● Coordinate, intervene when required among various rehabilitation teams● Regular interaction and facilitate meetings with participants● Supervise student volunteers and interns assigned to case management duties● Monitor the budget and effective utilization for program assets and resources● Handle concerns raised within teams and report to HR and Managing Trustee
Planning and strategy
● Planning and implementation of the overall Rehabilitation Programme and itsactivities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization to achievethe successful outcome of the programs on monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis● Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organizationReporting and Documentation● Conduct an annual evaluation according to the programme evaluation framework● Oversee the collection and maintenance of documentation of the RehabilitationProgramme to monitor program activities and to contribute to research and literatureon this population group adhering to confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization● Submit monthly reports of individual and program activities collated based on teammember’s reports
Skills required for the job:
● Passion for learning and development as a driver of organisational performance at every level.● Skills in presenting concepts, procedures and recommendations in a clear and understandable manner.● Excellent communication skills (orally and written), influencing and presentation skills.● Ability to design empathically with the client’s needs and ambitions in mind.● Demonstrable flair for creativity and innovation.● Superior organisational skills, be self-driven, well organised, and able to work independently with initiative and a hands-on execution style.● The ability to build and maintain a personal ethos of high performance.● Excellent attention to detail● Skills for team management and conflict resolutionEligibility:● 4+ years of experience of working with women and youth from marginalized community● Understanding of gender-based violence, emotional and physical trauma, marginalization based on caste, gender● MSW/BSW or combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the position’s expectations is preferred● Preference to women candidates between 25 to 40 years of age.● Proficiency in Marathi, Hindi, and/or English is required.
