Job Description: Journals Production Editor

Summary

The Journals Production Editor plays a crucial role in the publishing process, managing academic and scientific journals from manuscript acceptance to final publication. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of the scholarly publishing workflow. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management

    : Oversee the production of a portfolio of journals, ensuring that all articles meet quality standards and are published on time.
  • Workflow Coordination

    : Manage the end-to-end production process, including copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, and author correspondence.
  • Vendor Management

    : Coordinate with internal supplier (e.g., typesetters, printers) to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Quality Assurance

    : Perform quality checks at various stages of production to ensure accuracy and consistency in all published content.
  • Author Communication

    : Serve as the primary point of contact for authors during the production phase, addressing their queries and managing their revisions.
  • Technical Proficiency

    : Use publishing software and content management systems to track manuscripts and manage production files.
  • Problem-Solving

    : Address and resolve any issues that arise during the production process, such as technical errors or delays.

Qualifications

    : Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Publishing).
  • Experience

    : 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within academic or scholarly publishing.
