Role Overview

Product Designer

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Conceptualization

• Research lifestyle and cultural trends to design new collections that blend global aesthetics with Indian craft.

• Create design concepts, mood boards, and material palettes for both Textiles and Hard Goods.

• Categories of focus:

Textiles

Hard Goods

2. Technical Design & Development

• Develop detailed drawings, CADs, and tech packs for manufacturers.

• Specify fabrics, weaves, finishes, metal/glass/ceramic materials, and surface treatments.

• Work through prototype iterations with the sourcing and QC teams to achieve desired finish and functionality.

3. Vendor & Manufacturing Collaboration

• Partner with weavers, textile mills, embroidery units, ceramic artisans, lighting manufacturers, and décor workshops.

• Ensure prototypes and samples meet Hello December’s premium design standards.

• Balance artisanal craft with scalable production capabilities.

4. Collection Integration & Styling

• Align products with seasonal launches, story-driven collections, and styled spaces.

• Work closely with stylists and merchandisers to ensure collections photograph and style well in shoots, show flats, and retail stories.

5. Trend & Innovation Focus

• Explore sustainable materials and finishes (organic cotton, recycled glass, natural fibers, eco-friendly lighting components).

• Experiment with craft-tech integration (3D printing with ceramics, laser-cut metal, etc.).

• Benchmark against top global homeware brands and bring a fresh, design-first edge.

Requirements

Product Design, Textile Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent

Textiles and/or Hard Goods

• Proficiency in design tools: AutoCAD, Rhino/SketchUp, SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and rendering tools like KeyShot.

• Strong knowledge of weaving, printing, embroidery, ceramics, glass, metal, and lighting components.

• Ability to balance creativity, functionality, and commercial sensibility.

• Excellent sketching, visualization, and presentation skills.
