Process Development Engineer (Mechanical)

Role & responsibilities

1) Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and Special Purpose Machines (SPM).

2) Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and coordinate with purchase teams and internal machine shops for execution.

3) Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

4) Troubleshoot robotic machines and SPM systems, including machine maintenance activities.

5) Carry out machine maintenance and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.

6) Maintain and monitor spare parts inventory for machinery.

7) Design and implement pick-and-place automation systems.

8) Maintain and troubleshoot SPMs and production equipment to ensure uptime.

9) Estimate and evaluate costing for machines, tools, and fixtures.

10) Identify, develop, and evaluate new vendors, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

11) Prepare and optimize plant layouts for improved operational efficiency.

12) Analyze and optimize cycle times and process flow for manufacturing operations.

13) Drive cost reduction initiatives in manufacturing processes.

14) Coordinate with the Civil/Infrastructure team for new plant construction as per process requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

1) 8 to 10 years of 2D AutoCAD experience with expertise in designing jigs, fixtures, machine building, plant layouts, and machinery layouts.

2) Strong proficiency in 3D design software such as SolidWorks, Creo, etc.

3) Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.

4) In-depth knowledge of robotic automation, press tools, tool and die making, heat treatment, and fabrication processes.

5) Hands-on experience with industrial robots such as Yaskawa, Fanuc, ABB, and KUKA.

6) Basic knowledge of paint shop processes, including solvent- and water-based painting and robotic/cobot spray-painting automation.

7) Expertise in material selection and understanding of mechanical properties.

8) Working knowledge of SAP for material indenting and related functions.

9) Strong understanding of 5S, continuous improvement (CI) activities, and lean manufacturing principles.

10)Working knowledge of KAIZEN and POKA-YOKE implementation.

11) Hands-on experience using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.

12) Proficiency in MS Office applications.

13) Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with purchase teams and suppliers.
