Job Description

As a Water Resource Engineer at WSP, your role will involve leading and managing comprehensive water resource management studies for mining projects. You will be responsible for utilizing advanced modeling and simulation tools to predict water-related risks and evaluate mitigation measures. Your duties will also include evaluating mine tailings dam integrity, conducting hydrological studies, and analyzing data along with input/output uncertainties. Additionally, you will be required to lead the team in designing water management infrastructure for mines and providing technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage comprehensive water resource management studies for mining projects - Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools for risk prediction and mitigation - Evaluate mine tailings dam integrity and conduct hydrological studies - Lead the design of water management infrastructure for mines - Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers - Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations for clients - Execute project management responsibilities Qualifications Required: Mandatory Skills: - Experience in flood-related studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure design projects - Total experience of 10+ years - Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality modeling practices - Proficiency in relevant Australian guidelines - Experience with software such as TUFLOW, ICM, HEC-RAS, and GIS programs - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Effective communication and interpersonal skills Desired Skills: - Track record of successfully delivering water-related projects - Technical expertise in civil/water resource engineering - Experience managing water resource engineers and supporting mining business - Ability to challenge the status quo and apply innovation Qualifications: - Master/PhD degree in water resource engineering preferred - Extensive professional experience of 10+ years in water resources engineering - Experience in the international context preferred About WSP: WSP is a leading professional services consulting firm with a focus on technical expertise and strategic advisory services.
