Principal Engineer – AI/LLM | Climate Fintech Startup | Remote | Full-Time | US Hours Role- A fast-growing U.S.-based climate-fintech startup is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead core platform architecture, blending fintech, data, and clean-tech innovation. Company Overview- We are a venture-backed startup combining sustainable finance and AI to accelerate investment in climate solutions. Our platform uses AI-powered tools to drive faster, smarter capital deployment for world-positive impact. We move fast, stay close to customers, and iterate quickly with a small, experienced team. About the Role- We’re looking for a Principal Engineer with 8+ years of experience in full-stack and AI/ML engineering to architect and lead our platform development. You’ll write hands-on code, mentor engineers, and shape our technical vision to ensure scalable, reliable solutions. Core Responsibilities- Architect, design, and lead implementation of a scalable, secure platform Develop maintainable full-stack code with focus on AI/ML pipelines and RAG Provide technical leadership and mentor the engineering team Collaborate with product and business teams to align technical solutions with needs Improve engineering processes, including code reviews and testing Required Skills and Experience 8+ years full-stack web development; 3+ years focused on AI/ML engineering Proven ability to architect complex systems and deliver quality code Experience integrating AI/ML APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, LlamaIndex, etc.) Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and workflows Skilled with React, Next.js, Node.js, Supabase, Vercel, Python Strong system design and architecture skills Excellent communication and mentoring abilities Preferred Qualifications Familiar with financial data and documents Experience with RAG and vector databases Knowledge of agentic AI platforms Cloud deployment experience for AI/ML applications Understanding of security best practices for finance apps Show more Show less
