Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor reactors, distillation columns, scrubbers, absorption towers, pumps, and ancillary equipment per SOPs
• Start up, stabilize, and shut down process units safely and in accordance with procedures
• Record process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, level) and make manual or DCS adjustments to maintain setpoints
• Perform in-line sampling, basic quality checks, and troubleshoot minor process upsets
• Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks (lubrication, filter changes) and report equipment faults promptly
• Conduct safety rounds; verify integrity of safety interlocks, relief valves, and emergency shutdown systems
• Adhere to housekeeping standards and ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products
• Maintain accurate shift logs, batch records, and handover notes for incoming operators
• Use SAP/ERP to log production data, equipment status, and consumable usage
• Follow PPE, Permit-to-Work, confined space, and hazardous chemical handling guidelines
• Participate in HAZOP action closure, safety drills, and continuous improvement initiatives
  

Qualifications & Experience

• ITI or Diploma in Chemical/Instrumentation/Mechanical Engineering, or B.Sc Chemistry
• 13 years experience in chemical process operations, ideally within surfactant or fine chemical plants
• Familiarity with batch and continuous operations under DCS/SCADA control
• Basic understanding of ethoxylation, hydrogenation, distillation, and absorption unit operations
• Working knowledge of GMP, ISO, and environmental health & safety regulations
• Competent in reading P&IDs and following SOPs and work instructions

Working Conditions

• Rotating shifts (including nights and weekends)
• Industrial chemical plant environment requiring PPE
• Moderate physical effort (standing, climbing, manual handling within safety limits)
