Job Description

Job Title: Plant HR AGM / DGM

Reports to:

Role Overview

The incumbent will lead the Human Resources and Industrial Relations functions for a large, unionized manufacturing plant. The role involves ensuring a harmonious industrial climate, maintaining strong liaison with external stakeholders, and driving HR initiatives aligned with corporate policies. The position requires a proactive leader with strong exposure to IR, people management, and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations

  • Lead all IR activities for a unionized plant, ensuring industrial harmony and discipline.
  • Manage collective bargaining, long-term wage settlements, and handling of union demands.
  • Maintain regular liaison with government officials, labour departments, and local authorities.
  • Ensure 100% statutory and legal compliance under all applicable labour laws.
  • Handle grievance redressal, domestic enquiries, disciplinary actions, and contract labour issues.
  • Develop proactive engagement strategies to build trust and transparent communication with union leaders and workforce.
  • Oversee contractor management, vendor audits, and compliance documentation.

Human Resources

Talent Acquisition:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for white-collar and blue-collar roles at the plant.
  • Collaborate with functional heads to assess manpower requirements and ensure timely hiring.
  • Build strong local talent pipelines through effective sourcing, campus engagement, and referrals.
  • Ensure hiring aligns with organizational values, diversity goals, and cost parameters.

Performance Management System (PMS):

  • Drive the implementation of PMS processes across all levels at the plant.
  • Ensure timely goal-setting, performance appraisals, and feedback discussions.
  • Partner with functional leaders to identify and nurture high-potential employees.
  • Support linkage between performance, training, and rewards to build a high-performance culture.

HR Operations & Engagement:

  • Oversee HR operations including onboarding, payroll coordination, and employee welfare.
  • Drive employee development, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Monitor key HR metrics (attrition, productivity, absenteeism) and ensure alignment with corporate HR policies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 1516 HR professionals ensuring operational excellence and team growth.

Liaising & Public Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local administration, statutory bodies, and community representatives.
  • Support CSR and community outreach initiatives to strengthen the companys local presence.
  • Act as the companys representative for external communication and reputation management around the plant.

Key Requirements

  • Education:

    MBA / MSW / PG in HR or IR from a reputed institute.
  • Experience:

    20- 25 years in manufacturing / automobile industry with strong exposure to Industrial Relations.
  • Age:

    45–48 years.
  • Language:

    Fluency in

    Telugu

    (mandatory).
  • Proven track record of managing a

    unionized plant

    with large blue-collar workforce.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Hands-on experience in labour law compliance, statutory audits, and liaisoning with authorities.
