Job Title: Paint Shop Engineer / Paint Shop In-Charge Industry: Heavy Engineering / Fabrication Location: Veerya Attachments – Malur Industrial Area Department: Production – Surface Treatment & Painting Looking for Immediate joiners Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Paint Shop Engineer with expertise in spray painting techniques and paint shop processes for heavy engineering/fabrication components. The role involves overseeing surface preparation, primer and topcoat application, process control, and ensuring high-quality finishes that meet industrial standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise and execute spray painting operations on fabricated structures and heavy engineering components. Manage paint shop processes including surface preparation (shot blasting, degreasing, puttying, masking) and coating application. Ensure adherence to paint thickness, adhesion, gloss, and finish standards through testing and inspection. Monitor primer, epoxy, PU, powder coating, and specialized coatings per specifications. Optimize paint consumption, reduce wastage, and maintain inventory control. Operate and maintain paint shop equipment – spray guns, airless spray systems, booths, ovens, compressors. Troubleshoot painting defects such as runs, orange peel, blistering, pinholes. Guide and train operators in spray techniques, mixing ratios, and safe handling of paints/solvents. Maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental norms in paint shop operations. Key Skills & Competencies Proficiency in spray painting methods (air spray, airless spray, electrostatic spray). Strong knowledge of paint shop processes for heavy fabrication industries. Familiarity with DFT/MFT testing, adhesion tests, and salt spray testing. Ability to manage manpower, workflow planning, and production timelines. Hands-on knowledge of industrial coatings, curing processes, and surface preparation standards (IS/ASTM). Safety-conscious in handling paints, solvents, and chemicals. Qualifications Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering. NACE / FROSIO / SSPC paint inspector certification (preferred). Experience 3–6 years of relevant experience in spray painting and paint shop operations in heavy engineering/fabrication industry. Exposure to large structures, heavy machinery, or capital equipment manufacturing preferred.
