About The Job
Our client is looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team, with proven expertise in managing Oracle databases on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role requires strong hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for proactive monitoring and performance tuning. Familiarity with PostgreSQL and SQL Server in the AWS environment is a strong

What You'll Be Doing
Deploying, configuring, and maintaining
Oracle databases
on
AWS (EC2 and/or RDS)
.
- Using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring, alerting, automation, and diagnostics.
- Implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN.
- Performing database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL/PLSQL.
- Managing database security, user access, encryption, and auditing policies.
- Supporting disaster recovery and high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, Multi-AZ RDS).
- Collaborating with DevOps, application, and infrastructure teams for CI/CD integration and cloud architecture improvements.
- Supporting database migrations and upgrades in a cloud-first environment.
- Participating in an on-call rotation to support 24/7 production environments.
Job Requirements
What You Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
- Strong experience managing Oracle databases in AWS Cloud (EC2 or RDS).
- Deep knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and database diagnostics.
- Experience with RMAN and database patching/maintenance.
- Familiarity with AWS-native tools (e.g., CloudWatch, IAM, S3) for database management.
- Strong understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance practices.
Technologies
- Databases: Oracle 19c, PostgreSQL (preferred), SQL Server (preferred)
- Cloud: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, DMS)
- Monitoring: Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWS CloudWatch
- Tools: RMAN, Data Guard, AWS CLI, Linux shell scripting
- Scripting/Automation: Bash, Python (nice to have), AWS Lambda
- Other: Git, Jira, Confluence, Terraform (optional)
Bonus Points:
- Experience managing PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server on AWS (RDS or EC2).
- Experience with database migrations (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL) using AWS DMS or Ora2Pg.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- AWS Certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect Associate/Professional).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines involving database components.
