Operations Manager (Extrusions Specialist)

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Operations Manager (Extrusions Specialist), located in Surat. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the setup, commissioning, and day-to-day operations of the aluminium extrusion plant. This individual will act as the technical backbone of the company, ensuring smooth machine installation, efficient production, quality compliance, and workforce management.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Setup & Commissioning

Coordinate with machinery suppliers during installation and commissioning.

Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for extrusion press, handling systems, ovens, and finishing lines.

• Production Management

Plan, schedule, and supervise daily extrusion operations.

Optimize press utilization, billet recovery, and cycle times.

Manage die trials and new product development runs.

• Quality & Compliance

Ensure products meet required alloy, temper, and dimensional standards (ASTM, ISO, BIS).

Work closely with the Quality Control team to reduce rejections and scrap.

• Manpower & Training

Recruit, train, and lead operators, supervisors, and support staff.

Create a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
• Diploma with strong extrusion experience may also be considered.
• 8+ years in aluminium extrusion (preferably including setup/commissioning experience).
• Strong knowledge of extrusion press operations (1,200 – 2,500 MT or higher).
• Hands-on exposure to die design/maintenance, billet heating, ageing, anodizing/powder coating (advantage).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
