Job Description

On-Field Project Manager – Cross Country Backbone Fiber Route


Role Title: On-Field Project Manager (Cross Country Backbone Fiber Works)

Location: Route-based – frequent travel across allocated stretches


Key Responsibilities

• Act as single point of contact at site for central Project Manager, client site officials, consultants and liasoning officer.

• Convert central master plan into weekly & daily execution plans for trenching, duct laying, HDD, jointing, chamber works, crossings, etc.

• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors & contractors to ensure target km/day is achieved while maintaining quality and safety.

• Ensure material availability at godown and work fronts – coordinate with central purchase & logistics for timely dispatch and stacking.

• Monitor sub-contractors (trenching, HDD, reinstatement, GI tray works etc.) for progress, quality and adherence to rates & scope.

• Jointly work with Liasoning Officer to plan work fronts where permissions and ROW are cleared.

• Handle site meetings with client representatives, maintain work registers, measurement records and inspection logs.

• Escalate site-level issues (local resistance, utility conflicts, design changes, unforeseen geological conditions) to central PM with proposed solutions.

• Ensure HSE compliance: PPE usage, barricading, traffic management, NOC conditions for highway/railway/river crossings.

• Support preparation of RA bills, DPRs, WPRs and client measurement books through timely data from site.


Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.E. in Civil / Electrical / Telecom OR equivalent.

• 7–10 years experience in OFC / telecom / backbone / pipeline / infra execution on field.

• Hands-on experience in trenching, HDD, duct laying, chamber construction & reinstatement on highways / railways / rural & urban routes.


Key Skills

• Strong people & contractor management on field.

• Practical knowledge of survey, levels, route marking, and reading construction drawings.

• Good written/email communication for interaction with central office & client engineers.

• Ability to work in remote locations and manage multiple work fronts simultaneously
