Job Description

Role Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting NOC operations for continuous monitoring of Global IT Infrastructure (24x7) and services.
  • Monitoring the infrastructure like Servers, Cloud Services, Network Devices, Communication Links, Storage devices, Backup devices, Telephony devices & Applications.
  • Monitor server uptime, performance, and system health (CPU, memory, disk usage) using monitoring tools.
  • Respond to s for service outages or performance degradation and take necessary actions.
  • Monitor network devices, communication links, and application health.
  • Regularly check system logs for errors and issues.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions (create, modify, delete users/groups; reset passwords; manage permissions).
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for common issues (printer problems, file access issues, network connectivity, etc.).
  • Monitor ESXi host health and performance matrices.
  • Manage basic virtual machine (VM) operations (start, stop, reset VMs).
  • Troubleshoot basic ESXi issues (e.g., VM network connectivity, virtual switch configurations).
  • Monitor database server health and performance (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Verify daily backup jobs for databases and perform basic restores from backups.
  • Perform basic database management tasks (e.g., create users, manage roles, execute simple SQL queries).
  • Monitor storage systems, review s, and ensure sufficient capacity and health.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of AD services using tools like Event Viewer and AD Replication Status.
  • Regularly check EC2 instances’ health using AWS CloudWatch and Management Console.
  • Monitor and manage S3 bucket usage, permissions, policies, versioning, and encryption.
  • Respond to CloudWatch s related to EC2, RDS, and S3 health, storage, and performance.
  • Perform simple database restores and manage database users for AWS RDS instances.
  • Monitor network devices (routers, firewalls) and address s related to connectivity or performance.
  • Monitor and address email system health, including queues and delivery status.
  • Monitor Cisco ISE and Cisco Umbrella for security events, network activity, and endpoint access issues.
  • Enforce network access policies, manage guest user access, and troubleshoot authentication issues.
  • Ensure regular backups for all infrastructure components and manage restore operations when necessary.
  • Perform basic restores for database systems and network services.
  • Handle backup verification and ensure backup jobs are completed successfully.
  • Handle basic issues across servers, networking, cloud systems, databases, and storage.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2 and L3 teams for resolution.

Tools And Technologies

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, Zabbix, Datadog and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency with VMware, ESXi, AWS, Azure, SQL Server, Oracle, Active Directory, and backup solutions.
  • Experience with basic network troubleshooting and configuration.
  • Ability to work with cloud services, particularly AWS, GCP, and cloud-based backups.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking (OSI model, routing, VLANs).
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proactive in resolving incidents and minimizing downtime.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot effectively, and escalate when needed.
