We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on
expertise in managing Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) in cloud and on-perm environments. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in high-availability setups, performance tuning, automation, and production database support.
• Manage, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) databases in cloud and VM based environments.
• Configure and support high-availability solutions like Always on Availability Groups, SQL Server Clustering, and Replication.
• Improve database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and proactive troubleshooting.
• Automate provisioning, backup, patching, and scaling tasks using PowerShell, SSMS and optionally Terraform.
• Collaborate with development teams on schema updates, database changes, and application driven queries.
• Monitor production databases, troubleshoot live issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
• Implement and maintain database security policies, including access control, encryption, and auditing.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical production support.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Always on Availability Groups, SQL Server Clustering, and Replication.
• 5+ years of experience managing Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Solid understanding of Windows Server and Windows Clustering.
• Advanced skills in query optimization, indexing, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with backups, restores, and point-in-time recovery processes.
• Proficiency in PowerShell for automation of database operations.
• Familiarity with cloud SQL platforms (Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL, SQL Server on cloud VMs).
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience using Docker or Kubernetes for SQL Server deployment.
• Understanding of IaC tools like Terraform and configuration tools like Ansible.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• SQL Server or cloud certifications (Azure/GCP).
