Job Title: Loss Assessor – Motor OD Claims
Department: Claims

Qualifications & Experience:

✅ Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

✅ Experience: 2-5 years of experience in motor claims assessment, insurance, or vehicle inspection.

✅ Certifications: Certification in insurance claims management or loss assessment (preferred).

✅ Technical Skills: Familiarity with digital claims processing tools, estimation software, and MS Office.

Overview:
A Loss Assessor in Motor Own Damage (OD) Claims is responsible for evaluating, assessing, and processing insurance claims related to vehicle damages. The role involves inspecting damaged vehicles, estimating repair costs, verifying claim validity, and ensuring settlements are processed efficiently while minimizing fraud risks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Claim Assessment & Inspection:

  • Inspect and assess the extent of vehicle damage caused by accidents, fire, theft, or other covered events.
  • Verify the cause of loss and ensure it aligns with the claim details.
  • Conduct on-site vehicle inspections at garages, workshops, or impound yards.

2. Cost Estimation & Repair Validation:

  • Evaluate and approve repair estimates submitted by workshops or garages.
  • Negotiate repair costs with service providers to ensure fair and reasonable pricing.
  • Ensure the use of genuine spare parts and assess the feasibility of repairs vs. total loss.

3. Fraud Detection & Risk Management:

  • Identify potential fraudulent claims by checking inconsistencies in documents or damage reports.
  • Conduct background verification, including reviewing CCTV footage, driver statements, and accident site visits if needed.
  • Coordinate with investigators for further scrutiny when fraud is suspected.

4. Documentation & Report Preparation:

  • Prepare detailed assessment reports, including photographs, estimates, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of claim assessments and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

5. Claim Settlement & Customer Communication:

  • Provide recommendations for claim approval or rejection based on assessment findings.
  • Communicate with policyholders, repairers, surveyors, and other stakeholders regarding claim status.
  • Assist in dispute resolution by clarifying assessment details with customers and workshops.

6. Coordination & Compliance:

  • Collaborate with underwriters, legal teams, and surveyors to process claims efficiently.
  • Ensure all assessments adhere to the insurance company's policies and local motor insurance regulations.
  • Stay updated on market repair rates, vehicle valuation, and new technologies in the auto repair industry.
