Job Summary:

Head Mining

This role entails leading the planning, development, extraction, processing, and rehabilitation phases of mining operations. He will ensure that the operations are conducted safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with applicable environmental and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Mine Planning & Operations Execution

• Lead the preparation and execution of short-term and long-term mine plans.
• Oversee drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, and material handling processes.
• Optimize mine layouts, pit designs, and mineral recovery.

Technical Oversight

• Supervise geotechnical assessments, mine design, equipment utilization, and mineral processing techniques.
• Review and validate survey data, geological reports, and production statistics.

Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Management

• Ensure strict adherence to DGMS, MoEF, IBM, and other statutory guidelines.
• Manage approvals, environmental clearances, and post-mining land rehabilitation.

Budgeting & Resource Management

• Develop and manage project budgets, capital expenditure, and operational costs.
• Oversee procurement and maintenance of mining equipment and consumables.

Team & Stakeholder Coordination

• Lead multidisciplinary site teams including engineers, supervisors, and operators.
• Coordinate with government authorities, local communities, contractors, and consultants.

Health, Safety & Quality Assurance

• Implement and monitor mine safety programs and risk assessments.
• Conduct audits, safety inspections, and ensure compliance with occupational health standards.

Risk Management & Problem Solving

• Identify production bottlenecks or safety hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
• Resolve technical or operational challenges with minimal disruption to output.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare production reports, performance reviews, and operational KPIs for senior management.
• Ensure proper documentation for inspections, audits, and compliance submissions.

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements:

Mining Engineering

• Experience

10–15 years of experience

Skills & Expertise:

• In-depth knowledge of mine planning, drilling & blasting, fleet management, and mineral recovery.
• Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Surpac, MineSched, Datamine, AutoCAD).
• Familiarity with DGMS regulations, safety norms, and environmental protocols.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to manage large site teams and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and CSR initiatives in mining.
• Experience in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 implementation.
• Understanding of community relations and resettlement programs.
