Metallurgical Engineer

As a Metallurgical Engineer, you will leverage your 5+ years of experience to conduct metallurgical investigations and failure analysis of materials and components. Your expertise in material analysis, testing, and process optimization will be crucial in evaluating the properties and performance of metals and alloys. You will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes and ensuring that materials meet industry standards and application-specific requirements. Your responsibilities will include evaluating metal properties through mechanical testing, microscopy, and chemical analysis. You will support production and R&D teams in selecting suitable materials and heat treatment processes. Your expertise in reviewing technical drawings, material standards, and customer specifications will be essential in optimizing metal processing techniques. Additionally, you will troubleshoot material-related issues on the shop floor and collaborate with quality, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance and performance. To excel in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Masters preferred). Your hands-on experience in metallurgy in a manufacturing or industrial setting will be valuable. Proficiency in interpreting material standards, strong knowledge of metallic materials, failure modes, and heat treatment processes are required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills will be essential for success in this position. Preferred skills for this role include experience with corrosion testing, welding metallurgy, or non-destructive testing. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or quality systems will be advantageous. Experience with simulation software like Thermo-Calc, JMatPro, or ANSYS will be a plus.
