Role: Media Relations Lead

This role requires someone who can independently handle media outreach, pitch relevant stories, secure meaningful coverage, engage editors professionally, and bring monthly predictability to client PR.

Key Responsibilities

Media Outreach & Coverage

• Pitch stories with clarity, structure, and realistic angles — no hype.
• Secure interviews, quotes, market reactions, founder commentary, feature stories, and industry insights.
• Maintain active, daily communication with journalists through WhatsApp, email, and calls.
• Build a monthly media pipeline that delivers consistent visibility.

Media Strategy Execution

• Identify the correct journalist for each story (ET Retail vs Mint vs Logistics Insider vs Inc42).
• Reposition story angles instantly when editors reject or redirect.
• Advise internal teams on what the media will realistically accept, not theoretical PR ideas.
• Prepare briefing notes and context documents before every journalist interaction.

Relationship Management

• Maintain warm relationships with reporters and editors across:
• Economic Times (Retail/Tech/MSME)
• Mint
• Business Standard
• CNBC-TV18 / Moneycontrol
• Inc42 / YourStory
• ET Retail / ET Tech
• Logistics Insider / Supply Chain trades
• Track beat changes, reporter interests, and editorial calendars regularly.

Monitoring & Intelligence

• Track competitor coverage, category narratives, and market commentary.
• Spot communication opportunities before the news cycle peaks.
• Maintain structured outreach logs, follow-ups, and coverage reporting.

Requirements



Mandatory Experience

• 5–8 years in PR agency media relations or newsroom liaison roles.
• Proven earned-media results — not paid content, not advertorials.
• A real, functioning journalist network — not a spreadsheet.
• Experience handling SME clients with operational stories (refurb, supply chain, logistics, retail, sustainability, manufacturing).

Skill Requirements

• Strong editorial judgment — knows what is “newsworthy” vs “promotional.”
• Excellent communication skills with a calm, factual, professional tone.
• Ability to deliver consistent monthly visibility without founder escalation.
• Fast turnaround and responsible follow-up habits.
• Capability to handle multiple accounts without breaking structure.
