Objective for this role

The CAD Engineer will take full ownership of the mechanical design life cycle for equipment and assemblies built by EQUICHEM. This includes:

• Designing sheet metal parts, enclosures, and full assemblies in a 3D CAD environment (primarily using Solid Edge).

• Creating DFM/DFA-compliant manufacturing drawings.

• Generating CAM outputs for cutting and bending using software like CypNest and Visitouch MX.

• Collaborating closely with factory teams and job workers to ensure manufacturability and serviceability.

• Contributing toward aesthetically appealing, functionally superior, and production-ready designs suited to our pharmaceutical industry clientele.


Expected Exposure and Experience

At least 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD software like Solid Edge.

Strong exposure to sheet metal design, especially in equipment with enclosures, panels, and sub-assemblies made from laser-cut and bent parts.

Understanding of machine tool capabilities including:

▪️ Laser cutting

▪️ Shearing

▪️ Turret punching

▪️ Bending/forming

▪️ Tool selection and limitations

Experience working with CAM software like CypNest (for nesting) and Visitouch MX (for bending programs).

Basic knowledge of toolroom operations (turning, milling) is a plus.


Job Description

• Interpret and adapt EQUICHEM’s core design language and philosophy across all new equipment designs.

• Collect and structure design inputs from management, marketing, or end users.

• Create and modify 3D assembly models using Solid Edge.

• Design keeping in mind ease of fabrication, tooling limitations, and minimal post-processing at the shop floor.

• Prepare accurate and detailed part and assembly drawings, with proper GD&T, annotations, bend allowance, and welding guidelines.

• Define test points and checkpoints to catch design issues before release.

• Collaborate with factory managers, operators, and job workers to resolve any production bottlenecks or issues.

• Prepare and verify nesting files, bend sequences, and tool selection in CAM software.

• Coordinate with CAD software support teams for troubleshooting.

• Provide design release support and pilot run supervision during new product launches..

• Engage with factory operators and managers to resolve their queries and visit the factory for pilot runs for new design and resolving issues with existing/past designs.


Candidate Profile

• B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.

• Prior experience with Solid Edge or similar CAD tools in a sheet metal + assembly-focused environment.

• Good command over fabrication processes and material behavior.

• Familiarity with nesting and bending CAM software tools.

• Hands-on involvement in manufacturing or workshop supervision is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and design revision control.

• Good spoken and written English.

• Willing to travel to Palghar as needed for production handholding or design validation.
