Materials & Corrosion Engineer

About the Role As a Materials & Corrosion Engineer at bp Technical Solutions India (TSI) centre in Pune, you will be responsible for providing corrosion and materials engineering expertise to support the Refinery integrity teams and projects teams in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams across Production & Operations (P&O), including Operations, Maintenance & Reliability, Projects Ops, and Turnarounds, to manage corrosion and materials threats on equipment effectively. You will play a crucial role in identifying and implementing pragmatic solutions to manage risk, enhance production efficiency, eliminate defects, and standardize processes to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations. Additionally, you will support damage mechanism reviews, corrosion rate assessments, corrosion management documentation preparation, risk-based inspection plans, inspection result reviews, repair recommendations, incident investigations, and more. Education and Certifications To excel in this role, you must possess a degree in a Corrosion or Materials Engineering-related discipline, such as chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or civil engineering, along with a postgraduate certification in corrosion. Essential certifications include API 571 for refinery damage mechanisms and API 580/581 for RBI. Preferred qualifications include professional accreditation as a Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer, expertise in above-ground storage tank inspection, certification in NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist, and knowledge of standards like BSI ISO/ENI AS and AWS/CSWIP/ASNT NDT techniques. Experience Requirements You should have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field of Corrosion or Materials Engineering in refining operations. Your expertise should cover operational corrosion management, refinery corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, inspection techniques, failure investigation, corrosion monitoring, fabric maintenance, and more. Proficiency in API standards, NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist certification, and familiarity with industry standards for corrosion and integrity management are essential. Additionally, you should demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork, networking, and influencing skills, along with fluency in English, both written and oral. A background in process design, process safety, O&G unit operations, and motivation as a self-starter are key attributes for success in this role.
