Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to act as the critical link between shore management and vessels. The DPA will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS), while maintaining compliance with international maritime regulations and promoting a strong safety culture across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) across all vessels
• Maintain direct communication with Masters for safe operations and timely resolution of safety concerns
• Monitor vessel operations, safety reports, incidents, and corrective actions
• Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits, inspections, and certifications
• Oversee risk assessments, near-miss reporting, and accident investigations
• Liaise with Flag States, Class Societies, and regulatory authorities
• Support crew training programs, safety drills, and compliance initiatives
• Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management
• Ensure vessel readiness for PSC, SIRE, Class, USCG, and other inspections
• Promote and strengthen a proactive safety culture both onboard and ashore

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Marine Engineering / Nautical Science or equivalent
• Sailing experience as Chief Engineer or Master Mariner (preferred)
• Minimum X years of shore-based experience in safety, QA, or compliance roles
• Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, and industry best practices
• Proven experience handling audits, inspections, and compliance programs
• Experience with LPG / LNG / VLGC / dual-fuel vessels is an advantage
