Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and validate electrical network models for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
  • Perform electrical and power system studies, including:
    • Steady-state power flow and reactive power analysis
    • Short-circuit and arc-flash studies
    • Dynamic and transient stability analysis
    • Preliminary harmonic assessments
    • Cable ampacity and thermal evaluations
  • Support interconnection applications and study processes by:
    • Preparing technical inputs and assumptions
    • Reviewing ISO/RTO and Engineer of Record (EOR) study results
    • Preparing clear, decision-ready technical summaries
  • Develop and maintain standard study templates, methodologies, and best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Peer-review IFC-level electrical studies, vendor documents, and third-party technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with detailed design teams on:
    • Protection and control schemes
    • Grounding design
    • Cable sizing and routing
    • SCADA and control schematics
    • Electrical equipment specifications
  • Ensure designs are grid-code compliant, constructible, and aligned with utility and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with development, project management, and external consultants.
  • Contribute to project schedules, risk registers, and technical exhibits supporting financing and permitting activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with 1–4 years of relevant experience, or M.Tech in Power Systems / Renewables with 1–2 years of relevant experience in utility-scale power projects.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis tools, including:
    • PSS®E, PSLF, PSCAD
    • ETAP or SKM (short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination)
    • WinIGS or CDEGS (grounding analysis)
    • CYMCAP (cable ampacity and thermal analysis)
  • Familiarity with U.S. electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC 70) and utility/ISO interconnection study conventions.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, executive-ready technical reports.
  • Academic or professional training in:
    • Protective relaying
    • Symmetrical components
    • Transmission line theory
    • Power system transients and dynamic stability
    • Electromagnetics
  • Experience reviewing EOR studies, supporting interconnection applications, and coordinating across multiple technical disciplines and external stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Experience or working knowledge of substation design and HV transmission line design and calculations.
