We are seeking an accomplished and detail-oriented
Manager - Switchboard Design
with over 10 years of experience in electrical engineering and switchboard design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of high-quality switchboards and associated electrical systems that meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This is a senior-level role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management capabilities.As the Manager of Switchboard Design, you will oversee end-to-end design processes, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including project engineers, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance to deliver cost-effective and innovative switchboard solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Lead the design and development of low and medium-voltage switchboards, ensuring compliance with IEC, ANSI, and other relevant standards.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring designs are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with customer specifications.
- Technical Expertise: Review and approve electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and bill of materials (BOM) for switchboard assemblies.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs comply with regulatory codes, safety guidelines, and internal quality standards.
- Innovation & Optimization: Introduce design improvements, cost-saving measures, and value-engineering initiatives to enhance product competitiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project engineers, manufacturing teams, and procurement to ensure seamless integration of design into production.
- Customer Interface: Interact with clients to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions, and address technical queries or modifications.
- Team Development: Mentor, train, and lead a team of design engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of design drawings, technical specifications, and design change records for compliance and knowledge management.
- Vendor Coordination: Evaluate and collaborate with vendors for components, ensuring compatibility with design and performance requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Provide expert guidance on troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during project execution or testing.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry practices, and tools relevant to switchboard design.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in switchboard design, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or team-lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear, protection systems, busbar arrangements, and control circuits.
- Proficiency in design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar CAD software.
- Solid knowledge of international standards like IEC, ANSI, UL, and IS.
- Proven expertise in power distribution systems, fault current calculations, and electrical safety standards.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
